The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 1/4" x 18" and is constructed with alumina zirconium abrasive grain, which enhances cutting efficiency compared to traditional aluminum oxide belts. This belt features a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing designed to endure high-pressure applications and edge work, ensuring longevity and functionality for both wet and dry operations. It is particularly recommended for use on materials such as aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and exotic metal alloys, serving applications like dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat-sensitive alloys, including stainless steel and nickel alloys, the belt is equipped with a grinding aid that helps reduce running temperatures. The abrasive grain is resiliently bonded to the backing with resin, providing durability under high heat and pressure. The alumina zirconia grain is engineered to fracture frequently, maintaining sharp points and offering a faster cut-rate, ideal for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding.
