The 3M™ 60440257842 Cloth Belt 577F measures 3-1/2" x 15-1/2" and features an 80 grit alumina zirconium abrasive, designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for tasks such as dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. It includes a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys like stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt. The abrasive is resin-bonded to the cloth backing to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points, enabling a faster cut rate than aluminum oxide and is developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of belt sanding tools used in metalworking, including wide belts for flat finishing on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts for weld removal or finishing on backstands and feed-thru style flat finishers, and narrow belts for grinding and finishing in tight spaces or right-angle corners.
