The 3M™ cloth belt 577F measures 36" x 75" and features 80 grit alumina zirconium abrasive grain designed for increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide belts. It is backed with a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that is durable enough for high-pressure applications and edge work, supporting both wet and dry operations. This belt is recommended for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. It includes a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt. The abrasive grain is resin bonded to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia is a synthetic mineral that fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points, resulting in faster cut rates and is developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. Abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools for diverse metalworking applications, including descaling, flat finishing, high-pressure grinding, intermediate finishing, mill scale removal, plate grinding, sheet grinding, and slab grinding.
