The 3M™ cloth belt 577F measures 37" x 60" and features 100 grit alumina zirconium abrasive grain, providing increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide belts. It is backed with a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that withstands high-pressure applications and edge work, ensuring durability and long life for both wet and dry operations. The abrasive grain is firmly bonded with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure, and a grinding aid on the belt helps reduce running temperatures for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys. Alumina zirconia is a synthetic mineral designed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding, as it fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points that deliver a faster cut rate than aluminum oxide.
