The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 2 inches by 72 inches and features a 120 grit alumina zirconium abrasive, designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The belt includes a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is resin-bonded to the backing to ensure durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia, a synthetic mineral developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding, fractures continuously to produce sharp points and provides a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. The belts come in various widths and lengths, suitable for different belt sanding tools across metalworking applications, including centerless and cylindrical grinding, descaling, gate removal, mill scale removal, parting line removal, plate grinding, shaping, sheet grinding, and finishing. They are applicable in industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plating and polishing, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
