The 3M™ cloth narrow belt 707E measures 2-1/2" x 132" with an 80 grit ceramic abrasive grain, constructed from a blend of 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain and premium aluminum oxide for enhanced durability and cutting efficiency compared to non-ceramic abrasives. It features a flexible JE-weight rayon cloth backing that easily follows contours and wraps around parts, making it suitable for use with soft contact wheels or slack belt configurations, and it can be used wet or dry. This belt is designed for stainless steel, cobalt chrome, titanium, and carbon steel, ideal for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and scratch refinement on castings and forgings. To prevent heat-related stress cracks and discoloration in heat-sensitive alloys like stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys, the belt incorporates a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures. The abrasive is bonded with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. The ceramic grain, manufactured via a proprietary process, enhances grain toughness and hardness, while the aluminum oxide blend increases hardness and longevity, making the belt suitable for moderate to heavy stock removal and surface preparation. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability. The belt fits a variety of belt sanding tools used in metalworking and is part of a broad selection of sizes available to accommodate most industrial belt sanders, with wider belts designed for flat finishing and smoothing rough metal edges.
