The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 37" x 75" with 120 grit alumina zirconium abrasive grain, designed for increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide belts. It features a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that withstands high-pressure applications and edge work, suitable for both wet and dry operations. The belt is recommended for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. A grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys. The resin-bonded abrasive on the backing ensures durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia grains continuously fracture to create sharp points, providing faster cut rates, and are developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding. The cloth belt is available in various widths and lengths to fit different industrial belt sanders; wider belts are ideal for wide belt sanders for flat finishing and smoothing rough metal sheet edges, medium widths are used on backstands for weld removal or feed-thru flat finishers, and narrow belts fit backstands or file tools for finishing right-angle corners. Applications include descaling, flat finishing, high pressure grinding, intermediate finishing, mill scale removal, plate grinding, sheet grinding, and slab grinding.
