The 3M™ cloth belt 577F measures 37" x 75" and features a 36 grit alumina zirconia abrasive grain designed for increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide belts. It is backed with a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that withstands high-pressure applications and edge work, supporting both wet and dry operations for durability and long life. This belt is recommended for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and exotic metal alloys for dimensioning, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. A grinding aid incorporated into the belt helps reduce running temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is resin bonded to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia abrasive fractures frequently to create sharp cutting points, providing a faster cut rate and is ideal for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts are compatible with different belt sanding tools used across many metalworking applications, including wide belts for flat finishing and grain pattern addition on stainless steel sheets, medium-width belts for weld removal and finishing, and narrow belts for grinding in tight corners or finishing right angles.
