The 3M™ 60440260689 cloth belt 577F measures 2" x 72" and features a 36 grit alumina zirconium abrasive suited for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The belt includes a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is resin-bonded to the backing to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia abrasive fractures frequently to produce sharp points, delivering a faster cut rate than aluminum oxide; it is a synthetic mineral developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. These belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders, with wider belts used for flat finishing on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts for weld removal or finishing sheets and coils, and narrow belts for access to right-angle corners or finishing on backstands or file tools.
