The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 4" x 118" and features 120 grit alumina zirconium abrasive, specifically designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The belt includes a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys. The alumina zirconia abrasive is a synthetic mineral that fractures frequently to produce sharp points, providing a faster cut rate than aluminum oxide, and is bonded to the cloth backing with resin for durability under high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths compatible with many industrial belt sanders, suitable for applications ranging from centerless and cylindrical grinding to descaling, finishing, gate removal, high-pressure grinding, mill scale removal, parting line removal, and shaping. Typical industries using this product include builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plating and polishing, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
