The 3M™ cloth belt 577F, measuring 8" x 60" with 80 grit alumina zirconium abrasive, is designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. It features a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys. The alumina zirconia abrasive is a synthetic mineral bonded firmly to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure, continually fracturing to produce sharp points for a faster cut rate compared to aluminum oxide. The belts come in a variety of widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders, with wider belts used for flat finishing and smoothing rough metal edges, medium-width belts for weld removal and finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts for grinding, finishing, or accessing right-angle corners. Typical applications include centerless and cylindrical grinding, descaling, finishing, flat finishing, gate removal, high-pressure grinding, intermediate finishing, mill scale removal, parting line removal, plate grinding, shaping, and sheet grinding. This product is suited for industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plating and polishing, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
