The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F 2" x 132" 80 Grit Alumina Zirconium is designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. It features a grinding aid on the belt to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. The alumina zirconia mineral fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points, delivering a faster cut rate compared to aluminum oxide, and is developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. The abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit many industrial belt sanding tools, with wider belts used on wide belt sanders for flat finishing or adding grain patterns, medium-width belts on backstands or feed-thru style finishers for weld removal or finishing sheets and coils, and narrow belts suited for backstands or file tools to access right-angle corners. Key applications include centerless and cylindrical grinding, descaling, finishing, flat finishing, gate removal, high-pressure grinding, intermediate finishing, mill scale removal, parting line removal, plate grinding, shaping, and sheet grinding.
