The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 4 inches by 132 inches with an 80 grit alumina zirconium abrasive designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. It features a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is firmly bonded with resin to the backing to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia, a synthetic mineral, frequently fractures to produce sharp points, enabling a faster cut rate than aluminum oxide, and is developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of industrial belt sanders for different metalworking applications, including centerless and cylindrical grinding, descaling, flat finishing, gate removal, intermediate finishing, mill scale removal, parting line removal, plate grinding, shaping, and sheet grinding.
