The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 4" x 132" with 60 grit alumina zirconium abrasive, designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The belt features a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is resin-bonded to the backing to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia is a synthetic mineral that fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points, delivering a faster cut rate than aluminum oxide, and is developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. The belts come in various widths and lengths for different metalworking applications and can be used with wide belt sanders, backstands, feed-thru style flat finishers, and file tools for tasks such as grinding, weld removal, finishing sheets or coils, and accessing right angle corners. Applications include centerless and cylindrical grinding, descaling, finishing, flat finishing, gate removal, high-pressure grinding, intermediate finishing, mill scale removal, parting line removal, plate grinding, shaping, and sheet grinding.
