The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 1" x 3-9/64" and features 60 grit alumina zirconia abrasive, recommended for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. It includes a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia is a synthetic mineral that frequently fractures to continually produce sharp points, delivering a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide and is designed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. The abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit many industrial belt sanding tools, with wider belts used on wide belt sanders for flat finishing and smoothing rough-cut metal edges, medium-width belts typically used on backstands for weld removal or feed-thru style flat finishers for finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts used on backstands or file tools for grinding and finishing right-angle corners. This product is coated and bonded for industrial manufacturing applications.
