The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 3 inches by 79 inches and features 60 grit alumina zirconium abrasive designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The belt includes a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The alumina zirconia abrasive fractures frequently, producing sharp points for faster cut rates than aluminum oxide, making it suitable for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding. The abrasive is firmly resin-bonded to the cloth backing to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of industrial belt sanders and are used for centerless and cylindrical grinding, descaling, finishing, flat finishing, gate removal, high pressure grinding, intermediate finishing, mill scale removal, parting line removal, plate grinding, shaping, and sheet grinding.
