The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 2-1/2" x 72" and features 36 grit alumina zirconium abrasive, designed for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. The belt includes a grinding aid to reduce running temperatures and protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin, providing durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia frequently fractures to produce sharp points, delivering a faster cut rate than aluminum oxide, and is a synthetic mineral developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts fit industrial belt sanders: wider belts for wide belt sanders used in flat finishing and smoothing rough metal sheet edges, medium-width belts for backstands and feed-thru flat finishers, and narrow belts for backstands and file tools to access right-angle corners.
