The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 37 inches by 60 inches and features a 120 grit alumina zirconia abrasive grain designed for increased cutting efficiency over aluminum oxide belts. It is backed with a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that withstands high-pressure applications and edge work, ensuring long life and support for both wet and dry operations. This belt is recommended for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. A grinding aid incorporated into the belt reduces running temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The abrasive is resin bonded to the backing to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia rapidly fractures to produce sharp points that enable a faster cut rate, making it suitable for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding.
