3M™ Cloth Belt 577F measures 37" x 60" and features 150 grit alumina zirconium abrasive grain, designed for increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide belts. It is backed with a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that withstands high-pressure applications and edge work, ensuring durability and supporting both wet and dry operations. The belt is recommended for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and other exotic metal alloys for tasks such as dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat-sensitive alloys, including stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys, the belt incorporates a grinding aid that reduces running temperatures. The alumina zirconia abrasive is firmly bonded with resin to maintain wear resistance under high heat and pressure, and it continuously fractures to produce sharp points for faster cut rates, making it suitable for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding. The belt is available in various widths and lengths to fit multiple industrial belt sanders, with wider belts suited for wide belt sanders in flat finishing applications, medium-width belts for weld removal or finishing sheets and coils, and narrow belts for grinding and finishing in tight corners.
