The 3M™ cloth belt 302D, measuring 3" x 132" with P240 grit aluminum oxide, features an open coat construction that channels sanding dust away from the belt and workpiece for improved visibility and belt performance. The resin-bonded abrasive and backing ensure the belt operates until the abrasive is fully worn, offering added flexibility for various operations. The aluminum oxide mineral provides a durable, long-lasting cut and is suitable for woodworking and metalworking on a wide range of materials, including ferrous alloys, making it a commonly used industrial abrasive. The abrasive grains are spaced apart to prevent loading from wood or paint dust clogging the surface, enhancing cut aggressiveness compared to closed coat abrasives of the same grade. The belt is compatible with a variety of belt sanding tools, including wide belts for wide belt sanders used in flat finishing and smoothing rough metal edges or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets, medium-width belts for backstands and feed-thru finishers for weld removal and finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts for grinding and finishing on backstands or filing tools used in right-angle corners.
