The 3M™ Cloth Belt 302D measures 3 inches by 132 inches and features P280 grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an open coat construction that channels sanding dust away from the belt and workpiece to enhance visibility and belt performance. The abrasive and cloth backing are resin bonded, providing strong adhesion that withstands high heat and pressure, allowing the belt to run until the abrasive is fully worn. Designed for applications requiring added flexibility, the aluminum oxide mineral is highly durable and suitable for a wide range of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The open coat design spaces abrasive grains apart to prevent loading from wood or paint dust, offering a more aggressive cut than closed coat abrasives of the same grit. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit multiple belt sanding tools used for blending, deburring, fine finishing, and radiusing in metalworking. Wide belts fit wide belt sanders for flat finishing and edge smoothing on metal sheets or creating grain patterns on stainless steel, medium-width belts fit backstands or feed-thru flat finishers for weld removal and finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts are suitable for backstands and file tools used in right-angle corner finishing.
