The 3M™ Cloth Belt 340D measures 3 inches by 18 inches and features 50 grit aluminum oxide fast-cutting abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable cotton cloth backing for continuous cutting and long life. It has an open coat and load-resistant coating, making it particularly suitable for sanding soft woods. The washable backing supports high production environments where belts may need periodic washing to remove resin or pitch buildup. Aluminum oxide mineral is a widely used abrasive in industrial applications for its durability and cut rate, effective on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys, woodworking, and metalworking. The abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing with resin to withstand high heat and pressure.
