The 3M™ cloth belt 302D measures 2" x 132" and features P180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an open coat construction that channels sanding dust away from both the belt and work piece, enhancing visibility and belt performance. The abrasive particles are resin bonded to a cloth backing to ensure durability and prolonged use until the abrasive is fully worn. This belt is recommended for operations requiring added flexibility. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in woodworking and metalworking, including on ferrous alloys, due to its cutting efficiency, durability, and long life. The open coat design spaces abrasive grains to prevent loading from wood or paint dust, allowing dust and debris to escape, and provides a more aggressive cut compared to a similar closed coat abrasive of the same grade. The belt is suitable for various widths and lengths to fit numerous industrial belt sanders for metalworking applications, with wider belts used for wide belt sanders for flat finishing and edge smoothing, medium-width belts for backstands or feed-thru flat finishers for finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts for backstands or file tools for right angle corner finishing.
