The 3M™ Cloth Belt 302D measures 2" x 132" and features a P100 grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an open coat construction designed to channel sanding dust away from the belt and workpiece, enhancing visibility and belt performance. The abrasive particles are resin bonded to a cloth backing that provides flexibility and durability, allowing the belt to run until the abrasive is fully worn, while withstanding high heat and pressure. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide range of materials, including ferrous alloys, commonly used in both woodworking and metalworking industries. The open coat design spaces abrasive grains to prevent loading from wood or paint dust, providing a more aggressive cut compared to a closed coat abrasive of the same grade. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools: wider belts for wide belt sanders used in flat finishing and smoothing metal sheets, medium-width belts for backstands or feed-thru flat finishers for finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts for backstands or file tools targeting grinding and finishing in right-angle corners. Typical applications include blending, deburring, fine finishing, and radiusing in metalworking.
