The 3M™ cloth belt 302D measures 2" x 132" and features P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an open coat construction that channels sanding dust away from both the belt and the workpiece, enhancing visibility and belt performance. The abrasive and cloth backing are resin bonded, ensuring the belt continues running until the abrasive is fully worn. This belt is recommended for operations requiring added flexibility. The aluminum oxide mineral provides durability, long life, and effective cutting on various materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive grains are spaced apart in the open coat design to prevent loading by wood or paint dust and provide a more aggressive cut than closed coat abrasives of the same grade. These abrasive belts come in different widths and lengths suitable for different belt sanding tools in metalworking applications: wider belts fit wide belt sanders for flat finishing and smoothing rough edges, medium-width belts are used on backstands or feed-thru style finishers for weld removal and finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts are suitable for grinding and finishing on backstands or file tools in tight corners. The belt is suitable for blending, deburring, fine finishing, and radiusing in metalworking applications.
