The 3M™ cloth belt 340D is a 36" x 75" P100 grit aluminum oxide open coat premium grade abrasive belt designed for durability and aggressive stock removal on wood and metal. This belt features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long life. Its open coat and load-resistant coating make it especially effective for sanding soft woods, while the washable backing supports high production environments by allowing removal of resin or pitch buildup. Aluminum oxide, adhered with resin to withstand high heat and pressure, is suitable for woodworking and metalworking applications including ferrous alloys. The belt is compatible with various industrial belt sanders, including wide belt, edge, and portable models, used to dimension, finish, smooth cut edges, or add grain patterns to wood or metal surfaces. The belt ends are joined with a film media splice that ensures a secure bond, minimizes chatter marks, and provides smooth operation.
