The 3M™ Cloth Belt 302D measuring 3" x 132" and featuring P120 grit aluminum oxide has an open coat construction designed to channel sanding dust away from both the belt and workpiece, enhancing visibility and belt performance. The abrasive and cloth backing are resin bonded to ensure the belt runs until all abrasive material is worn. This belt is recommended for operations requiring added flexibility and is suitable for a wide range of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Aluminum oxide is known for its cutting rate, durability, and long life, making it the most commonly used industrial abrasive. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, while the open coat design spaces abrasive grains apart to prevent loading by wood or paint dust, providing a more aggressive cut than comparable closed coat abrasives of the same grade. The belt is compatible with various belt sanding tools and comes in different widths and lengths for applications such as wide belt sanders for flat finishing or rough edge smoothing, backstand sanders for weld removal, feed-thru style finishers for sheets or coils, and file tools for finishing in corners.
