The 3M™ cloth belt 302D measures 3" x 132" and features P150 grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an open coat construction that helps channel sanding dust away from both the belt and workpiece, enhancing visibility and belt performance. The belt’s abrasive and cloth backing are resin bonded to ensure durability and prolonged use until the abrasive is completely worn. This belt is recommended for operations requiring added flexibility. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial applications due to its effective cut rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a broad range of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive grains are spaced slightly apart to prevent loading from wood or paint dust, which helps maintain effectiveness, and this open coat construction also provides a more aggressive cut compared to closed coat abrasives of the same grade. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths and fit a range of industrial belt sanding tools. Wider belts are intended for wide belt sanders to smooth rough-cut metal sheet edges or add grain patterns to stainless steel sheets.
