The 3M™ cloth belt 302D measures 3" x 132" and features a P180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an open coat construction that channels sanding dust away from the belt and work piece, enhancing visibility and belt performance. The abrasive and cloth backing are resin bonded to ensure durability and continuous operation until the abrasive is fully worn. This belt is recommended for operations requiring added flexibility. The aluminum oxide mineral is known for its cutting rate, durability, and long life, suitable for various materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure. Open coat spacing between abrasive grains helps prevent loading from wood or paint dust and provides a more aggressive cut than closed coat abrasives of the same grade. The belt is compatible with multiple widths and lengths designed for different belt sanding tools; wider belts suit wide belt sanders for flat finishing and smoothing metal sheet edges, medium-width belts are used on backstands or feed-thru flat finishers for weld removal and finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts are used on backstands or file tools for finishing in right angle corners.
