The 3M™ Cloth Belt 302D measures 3" x 132" with a P220 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It features an open coat construction designed to channel sanding dust away from the belt and workpiece, enhancing visibility and belt performance. The abrasive particles, made from durable aluminum oxide mineral, are resin bonded to the cloth backing, providing a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure while ensuring the belt runs until the abrasive is fully worn. This belt is recommended for operations requiring added flexibility and is suitable for use on a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The open coat layout spaces abrasive grains to prevent loading from wood or paint dust, maintaining cutting effectiveness and producing a more aggressive cut compared to closed coat abrasives of the same grade. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts fit a broad selection of industrial belt sanders. Wider belts are intended for wide belt sanders to smooth rough metal edges or add grain to stainless steel sheets, medium-width belts are used on backstands or feed-thru flat finishers for weld removal or finishing sheets and coils, while narrow belts are suited for backstands or file tools used in grinding, finishing, or working in right-angle corners.
