The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 9" x 138-1/2" and features 24 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded with resin to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance suitable for aggressive dry sanding applications. Designed for finishing on metal, its closed coat construction ensures a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for creating a grain pattern, though the belt should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial settings due to its cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it effective on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles’ strong resin bond withstands high heat and pressure. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools; wider belts are for wide belt sanders used to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth metal sheet edges, medium-width belts suit edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts are for portable belt sanders working on smaller wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belt splices, including film media splices that minimize chatter marks and produce smooth finishes, and sine wave splices with interlocking fingers that enhance strength and reduce hinging, are used to join belt ends. Sine wave splices are generally utilized for coarse abrasives. The product includes a manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in material and workmanship, consistent with 3M’s standard terms.
