The 3M™ cloth belt 361F measures 6 inches by 90 inches and features P220 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing. It utilizes a heat-resistant resin that supports both wet and dry applications. Grades of P100 and lower use YF-weight polyester backing, while grades higher than P100 use a slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester backing. The aluminum oxide mineral is known for its fast cutting, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded to the cloth backing using resin to create a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts are available in several widths and lengths to fit a variety of belt sanding tools designed for metalworking applications. Wider belts are intended for wide belt sanders used in flat finishing to smooth rough cut edges or add grain patterns to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are commonly used on backstands for weld removal or on feed-thru style flat finishers for finishing sheets or coils. Narrow belts are utilized on backstands for grinding and finishing or on file tools for finishing in right angle corners. The primary application of this belt is metalworking.
