The 3M™ cloth belt 340D measures 4" x 24" and features P100 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are fast-cutting and resin-bonded to a durable cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long life. This belt employs an open coat and load-resistant coating, making it particularly effective for sanding soft woods. Its washable backing is suitable for high production environments where belts need washing to remove resin or pitch buildup. The aluminum oxide mineral used is popular among industrial professionals due to its cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The resin bond to the cloth backing withstands high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts of various widths and lengths are designed for different sanding tools and applications: wider belts fit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges, medium-width belts suit edge sanders for narrow surfaces, and narrow belts work with portable belt sanders on smaller wood pieces.
