The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2" x 72" and features 50 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for fast-cutting, continuous cut, and long-life performance in aggressive dry sanding applications. It is intended for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; this belt should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide is favored in industrial use for its cut rate, durability, and long life, applicable to various materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive grains are bonded with resin to the cloth backing, providing a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. These belts come in various widths and lengths for use with a range of belt sanding tools on wood and metal: wider belts fit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges; medium-width belts are used on edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces; narrow belts fit portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces.
