The washable backing is suitable for high production environments, allowing for the removal of soft wood resin or pitch buildup at intervals. Aluminum oxide mineral is widely used among industrial professionals for its cut-rate, durability, and longevity, applicable to various materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths for use on different belt sanding tools and applications in both wood and metal. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or adding a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets.
