The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2" x 60" with P100 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It features a closed coat construction suitable for metal finishing and producing a consistent fine grain pattern. The belt is intended for dry use only and should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral offers high cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a wide range of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are strongly adhered to the cloth backing to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths intended for use with different belt sanding tools: wide belts for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth metal edges, medium-width belts for edge sanders to sand flat or narrow surfaces, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders used in sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts feature different splice types: a film media splice that uses a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running and consistent finishes, and a sine wave splice made of interlocking fingers that travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and strengthen the joint area.
