The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 2 inches by 72 inches and features P150 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for fast cutting and long-life performance in aggressive dry sanding applications. Its closed coat construction provides a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern on metal surfaces. This belt is not intended for wet use. Aluminum oxide is renowned for its cut rate, durability, and versatility across both woodworking and metalworking, including use on ferrous alloys, and is one of the most commonly used industrial abrasives. The abrasive particles are firmly adhered to the cloth backing with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. The belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools for a range of applications including dimensioning and finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel. Wider belts accommodate wide belt sanders for panel dimensioning, medium belts fit edge sanders for narrow surface sanding, and narrow belts are suited for portable sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belt ends are joined by splices including film media splices, which use a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth operation, and sine wave splices, constructed of interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and added joint strength.
