The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2-1/4" x 80" with 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing using a resin that withstands high heat and pressure, delivering fast-cutting performance and long life for aggressive dry sanding applications. It features a closed coat construction for consistent fine finishing on metal and is suitable for producing a grain pattern but should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide mineral abrasives are widely used on ferrous alloys and a broad range of woodworking and metalworking materials due to their cut rate, durability, and long life. The belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different industrial belt sanders, with wider belts used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges, medium-width belts for edge sanders on narrow flat surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders on wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Splice options include film media splices that minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth operation and consistent finishing, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers to reduce hinging and add joint strength, typically used for coarser applications.
