The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 37 inches by 75 inches and features 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for metal deburring, general metalworking, and some woodworking applications. It is suitable for wide belt, edge, or portable belt sanding on metal substrates and wood, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding. The closed coat construction delivers a consistent, fine finish ideal for producing grain patterns on metal, but the belt should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide is known for its cut rate, durability, and longevity, making it effective on various materials, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing with resin, enabling resistance to high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in a range of widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders: wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal sheet edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts work with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The package includes belts with various splices, such as a film media splice, which creates a secure bond that minimizes chatter marks and ensures a smooth sanding process.
