The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 4" x 24" and features 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern. The belt is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral, widely used in industrial applications, offers high cut-rate, durability, and is effective on various materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin that withstands high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts fit multiple belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal; wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for wood panel dimensioning or metal edge smoothing, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces, and narrow belts are suited for portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces. The belts feature different splices such as film media splices, which use a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running and consistent finishing, or sine wave splices with interlocking fingers to allow smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add strength to the joint area.
