The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 4" x 24" and features 40 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; it should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral used is favored for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, applicable to various materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. The belt is compatible with a range of belt sanding tools across woodworking and metalworking, suitable for wide belt sanders, edge sanders, and portable belt sanders depending on belt width. The belt features multiple splice options, including a film media splice that securely bonds ends minimizing chatter marks and a sine wave splice with interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and added joint strength.
