The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 3" x 21" with P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for fast cutting and long-life performance in more aggressive dry sanding applications. It features a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern on metal surfaces and should not be operated wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys, due to its excellent cut rate, durability, and long life. The abrasive particles adhere strongly to the cloth backing, which withstands high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders, wider belts are intended for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth rough metal edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts work with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts include splices such as film media splices, which use a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth operation, and sine wave splices, constructed of interlocking fingers that provide strength, reduce hinging, and allow smooth travel over contact wheels.
