The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 3" x 24" and features 50 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering fast-cutting and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed specifically for finishing on metal with closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial applications due to its high cut rate, durability, and long life and is effective on a wide variety of materials, including ferrous alloys, in woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to the cloth backing to withstand high heat and pressure. The belt size is compatible with various sanding tools, with wider belts used for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth rough metal edges, medium-width belts for edge sanders on flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts for portable sanders to sand or blend wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belt includes a film media splice that creates a secure bond with a joining film to minimize chatter marks and provide smooth running and consistent finishing results.
