The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 50" x 103" and features 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing fast-cutting, continuous cut, and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is recommended for metal deburring, general metalworking, and some woodworking tasks, suitable for wide belt, edge, or portable belt sanding on metal substrates and wood. The closed coat construction offers a consistent, fine finish ideal for producing grain patterns on metal and should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide is valued for its cut rate, durability, and longevity, performing well on ferrous alloys and various materials in woodworking and metalworking. The resin bond creates a strong adherence to the cloth backing, withstanding high heat and pressure. The belts come in multiple widths and lengths designed for different sanding tools: wider belts for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth or add grain patterns to metal sheets; medium-width belts for edge sanders to sand flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges; and narrow belts for portable sanders to sand or blend wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The product includes various splices for belt ends, with film media splices providing a secure bond that minimizes chatter marks and ensures smooth operation.
