The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2" x 36" with P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded with resin to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for fast-cutting and long-life performance in more aggressive dry sanding applications. It features a closed coat construction suitable for finishing on metal, offering a consistent, fine finish and capable of producing a grain pattern, but it should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide abrasive is widely used in woodworking and metalworking, effective on ferrous alloys and many other materials, providing durability, a high cut rate, and long service life. The resin bond creates a strong adherence to the cloth backing, able to withstand high heat and pressure during use. The belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different industrial belt sanders, including wide belts for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth rough metal edges, medium-width belts for edge sanders to sand flat or narrow surfaces, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders used for sanding or blending smaller wood components. Different splice options are available to join belt ends, including film media splices for secure bonds that minimize chatter marks and sine wave splices with interlocking fingers to provide smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add joint strength.
