3M™ 341D cloth belt measures 2" x 48" and features a 50 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This abrasive belt is designed for various belt sanding tools and applications on both wood and metal. It is compatible with wide belt sanders for dimensioning and finishing wood panels, as well as for smoothing rough edges of metal sheets or adding grain patterns to stainless steel. The medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding narrow surfaces, while narrow belts are used with portable sanders for tasks such as sanding or blending wood pieces. The belt includes a film media splice for a secure bond, minimizing chatter marks and ensuring smooth operation, as well as a sine wave splice that features interlocking fingers for reduced hinging and added joint strength. Constructed with fast-cutting aluminum oxide grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, the 3M™ 341D belt provides long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. Its closed coat construction delivers a consistent fine finish suitable for producing grain patterns on metals, although it is not recommended for wet use. Aluminum oxide is widely favored by industrial professionals for its cut-rate, durability, and versatility across various materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin to create a strong bond that withstands rigorous sanding tasks.
