The open coat and load-resistant coating enhance performance for sanding soft woods, and the washable backing supports high production environments where belts may need washing to remove soft wood resin or pitch buildup. Aluminum oxide mineral is widely favored in industrial use for its cut rate, durability, and long life, effective on materials including ferrous alloys.
