The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 1" x 42" and features 50 grit fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; this belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral offers excellent cut-rate, durability, and long life and is ideal for woodworking and metalworking on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to the cloth backing, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths, compatible with different belt sanding tools for multiple applications on wood and metal: wider belts fit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel; medium-width belts are suitable for edge sanders to sand flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges; and narrow belts are for portable belt sanders used in sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belts feature different splice types including film media splices, which provide a secure bond with joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running, and sine wave splices constructed of interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and strengthened joint areas; sine wave splices are typically used for coarser grits. The product is supported by a warranty covering defects in material and workmanship.
