The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 1" x 42" and features 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing. This combination delivers continuous cut and long-life performance, ideal for aggressive dry sanding applications on a variety of materials, including ferrous alloys. The closed coat construction helps achieve a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing grain patterns on metal. The belt is designed for dry use only and is not intended to be run wet. Aluminum oxide is favored for its cut rate, durability, and longevity, and its abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing with resin that withstands high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts are available in multiple widths and lengths to fit various industrial belt sanders; wider belts accommodate wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges, medium-width belts are for edge sanders sanding narrow flat surfaces like panel edges, while narrow belts work with portable sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Different belt splices include film media splices, which ensure a secure bond with minimized chatter marks for smooth operation, and sine wave splices, which feature interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and joint strength, typically employed for coarser grits.
