The 3M™ 60440199523 cloth belt 341D measures 1" x 42" and features P100 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing. This design delivers fast-cutting capability and long-life performance suited for aggressive dry sanding applications, particularly for finishing on metal where its closed coat construction produces a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for creating grain patterns. The belt is intended for dry use only and should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is favored for its cut rate, durability, and longevity, making it suitable for sanding a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are firmly adhered with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to accommodate different belt sanding tools and applications: wider belts are used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel; medium-width belts are used with edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges; and narrow belts are compatible with portable belt sanders for blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts are manufactured with multiple splice options to join the ends, including film media splices for secure bonding that minimizes chatter marks and smoothens operation, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers that enable smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add strength to the joint area.
